Here’s  a clever idea if you are thinking of some DIY, spotted here.  In this, they use wine crates but you could easily use a wooden box or fix a square or rectangle of shelves to the wall and wallpaper the wall.  I’m liking the Orla Kiely wallpaper but you could of course use any wallpaper to fit in with your design scheme.

I like the way the box shelves are all different sizes and colours.  Small tip – decide on your wallpaper before you choose the size of your boxes so that you can cut the paper according to the size of the repeat pattern so it fits nicely within the box.  As you can see above, the wallpapers are cut neatly to show either a half or whole repeat size.

There is something very pretty about damask wallpapers – they remind me of Victorian sitting rooms, dark red wallpapers with a darker pattern, teamed with mahogany sideboards and dining tables.  One of my particular favourites though is the Manor House Damask by Yukari Sweeney Design.  It is traditional in its design and as the name suggests, it is quite grand with its depictions of candleabras and chandeliers.

My favourite is the ‘Spring’ colourway where the ever so dainty and select use of various colours really highlights little details every so subtly, from the lighting wicks on the candles to the teardrop detailing.  This is a very special wallpaper and would look divine in a girl’s or a lady’s bedroom or a dining room.

Fit for a manor but will look equally well in semi-d’s :)
